Our Staff
We are blessed with a wonderful, loving
staff whose average time working with with Sunny Day Care children
is now over eight years. And, it is also a major reason why over
sixty families have entrusted their children to Sunny Day from
their early, infant years through our Montessori program. Families
of one, two, three and even four children have been with Sunny Day
from the oldest being born until the youngest goes off to first
grade. Families are what we are all about!

Sue Casey (suecasey@sunnydaycare.com)
Before founding Sunny Day Care with a
friend in 1992, Sue worked as a System's Analyst for Ford Motor
Credit Co. for ten years until she had her second child. Sue took
training from the Michigan Montessori Teacher Education Center and
became a certified Early Childhood Montessori teacher. Sue has two
grown children, Mr. Joe and Miss Megan, who started out as toddlers
and have worked with the children on and off for years. And her
husband, Mr. Mike, or as the kids call him, Mr. Noodle, helps out
with all the maintenance. Now running the business on her own, Miss
Sue often sneaks out of the office and can be found in the Infant
and Toddler Rooms playing with the children!

Infant Room
Teachers
From six weeks through strong walking
(around 18 months), the infant room has a 3:1 ratio. The "best mom
besides mom" philosophy helps our new moms go off to work knowing
their baby will be loved all day long (but many still leave in
tears the first few days). All of our infant teachers are moms and
treat each baby exactly how they would have wanted their own baby
taken care of. Lots of love to go around.

Miss Pat
Pat is one of
our Infant Room Teachers, and has been a part of our child
care team since 1999. She loves to sing to the children and
has a heart of gold! Prior to joining SDC, Pat was an
administrative assistant at Little Caesars. Pat raised two
grown children, a daughter (Valerie) and son
(Tom), who are both married, and she loves
spending time with her Grand-Puppy Miles whenever she can! In
her free-time, she and her husband Mike love to hit to links
and play golf at area courses all over
Michigan.

magic touch with the babies in her care and she loves to watch them

Twos/Toddler Room
Teachers
Our Toddler Room is the bridge between
babies and preschoolers. The toddlers begin their days with circle
time which can be music, calendar, action songs, animal sounds,
ABCs, shapes or colors. The main focus of the day is "potty
training". With a tiny toilet, the toddlers are able to get on and
off by themselves. The goal is to send them off to preschool
toilet-trained and up to speed on colors, shapes and
calendar.

Miss Laura
Miss Laura has been with Sunny Day Care
since 2005 and has always been one of our special Toddler Room

Wobig (former high school classmate!) in 2010. Her daughter,

School and Livonia travel teams. Miss Laura enjoys reading, family

toddlers and a pro at helping them begin the adventures of
potty-training in a calm way that makes it a non-threatening
experience. She enjoys creating art projects and reading books to
the children, and is also great at teaching action songs at circle

Preschool
Teachers
The children in our Montessori
Preschool rooms range from 2 1/2 years through 6 years. Our goals
are to develop a positive attitude, self-confidence and
independence, while fostering curiosity, initiative, persistence,
security and sense of order. By working with the senses, we are
helping develop sensory-motor skills, ability to discriminate and
judge, yet encouraging social development and creative intelligence
and imagination. We want the children to have fun while learning in
a setting of basic ground rules.
